Purerehua Poem

Purerehua Poem

 Scurrying around in the sand
Searching for the perfect piece
Found It

Polishing and painting
Cutting and tying
I hear the loud deep sound of purerehua
Attracting Lizards

Sanded and drilled
Painted and polished
Plaited and Knotted
My perfect purerehua
Making the deep sound of a moth

Ocean Poem

 Ocean Poem
Glistening sunset reflects
onto the bright blue ocean,
  Waves crashing down
in a particular motion,
Children jumping in
with no worry to spare,
        Gulls crying,
throughout the air,
 Sun's going down,
 There's no time to spare,
       beautiful colors are fading away,
        But not for long,

  They'll come back each day.

Te Uru

WALT Participate in the learning of others.
Why? Building on our transition into high school
s.c : be active participants in a new cautral game.
:use our listening skills, watch, ask questions and practice

10CH Grey High came to our school on the 28th of August to teach us a game called Te Uru. They taught us some drills before we started the game and also the rules. The first drill was we had to throw a ball to someone and they had to catch it with a flat hand because you were not allowed to catch to ball with two hands or without a flat hand. The next drill was we had to throw to ball across the circle to others and the two people in the middle would try and intercept it and the last drill was another passing drill and we had to call out their name before we passed or else we were out and also if you dropped it you were also out.

My favorite part was the calling drill because it went on forever. Next time I think they should make the field bigger so then we can have bigger teams so we all can play. They could also pay more attention to the game instead of going off and playing your own games.

Book Review

Urgent Delivery by Dianne Bates
Illustrated by Chris Norris

Have you ever read Urgent Delivery By Dianne Bates? Well I have,
I thought the book was not that intriguing for my liking and it was not that
interesting. It was quite weird and  I would also not recommend this to
others my age as it is very Kiddish. This is not my type of book but I
read it anyway as I had no other book to read at the moment.

This story is a dramatic fiction story.
Andrew  is about to go on the ride of his life literally.
His mum is about to have a baby on the back seat of the
car while Andrew is driving and the cops are after him.

Urgent Delivery is set at Andrew’s
house, in the car on the way to the hospital
and at the hospital when the baby was born.

The main characters are Mum,
Dad and Andrew who are all a family
that live together and are getting ready for
a baby. Mum is a pregnant  woman and has brown
short hair with wide eyes , Dad is a loving father of two and
has big eyes with short brown hair and Andrew has blonde
short hair and  is a big loving brother to his little sister.

Dianne Bates is an author of may books she writes
many different types of books for all readers. She is an
Australian book writer and was born in Sydney on the 20th

Gravity Work

Highlight the main ideas. Summarize these main ideas  in one or two paragraphs.
Gravity is
a force that attracts all objects towards each other. Gravitational attraction is greater for more
massive objects.  This force of gravity causes the Moon to change direction to make it orbit
around the Earth. Gravity doesn’t disappear just because you are above the atmosphere.
Isaac Newton was the first to come up with the idea that all objects are attracted towards
each other by gravity.

Astronauts appear to be weightless for the same reason that a person on a trampoline
feels weightless when in the air. There is still the same amount of gravity acting,
but there is no floor pushing upwards on the astronaut, so the weight force cannot be felt.
Science ideas change over time.

When does gravity decrease?  Gravity

decreases as distance between the objects increases.”

When does the force of gravity become noticeable?   Gravity only becomes
noticeable if one (or both) of the objects has a lot of mass, such as the Earth.”

Gravity disappears when you are above the atmosphere. True or False? This is false
Gravity doesn’t disappear just because you are above the atmosphere. If an object is  above the
Earth’s atmosphere, there will still be a strong force of gravity pulling it towards the center of the Earth.

According to the text, how long does it take the International Space Station (ISS) to orbit Earth?       It takes 90 minutes  for astronauts and the ISS to orbit around the world

Who first stated that all objects are attracted towards each other by gravity? Isaac Newton was the
first who stated that objects were attracted toward
